When deciding how to end one of the best Netflix shows after 10 years, Stranger Things creators Ross and Matt Duffer say they actually took a leaf out of Peter Jackson's book and used sci-fi fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King as inspiration.
Finally, after what feels like a hundred years, “Stranger Things” has ended.
The story is set between seasons two and three and follows familiar Hawkins kids - Eleven, Mike, Will, Lucas, Dustin and Max - as they confront new monsters from the Upside Down and work together to solve a frightening paranormal mystery threatening their town.
Season 5 of Stranger Things has one volume remaining, with Volume 3, which serves as the series finale, arriving tonight, Wednesday, Dec. 31, New Year's Eve. All of these episodes premiere at unusual times, compared to the previous seasons, landing on Netflix at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT .
The Google animation for Stranger Things Season 5 features an interactive Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) 20-sided dice on its search page, which, when clicked, rolls and cracks into a red screen, ultimately flipping your search screen into the “Upside Down” for a final D&D-style adventure. A D&D dice will appear at the bottom of the homepage.
