Paid tools that “strip” clothes from photos have been available on the darker corners of the internet for years. Elon Musk’s X is now removing barriers to entry—and making the results public.

A Stranger Things viewer account drew attention to one user, who allegedly used the Grok AI tool to ask to generate inappropriate pictures of Holly Wheeler, a child. She’s Mike’s little sister in the Netflix show and had a more important role in the latest season, alongside her friends.

Sexualized images of members of the public, generated by X's built-in AI bot Grok without their consent and shared on the social media platform, have become the focus of international concern in recent days.

Dani Pinter, the chief legal officer and director of the Law Center for the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, said X failed to pull abusive images from its AI training material and should have banned users requesting illegal content. “This was an entirely predictable and avoidable atrocity,” Pinter said.

The Grok AI bikini trend is allowing non-consensual deepfakes on X, turning replies into a public harassment with no safeguards.
